Objectives: Download a youtube video and use a video editing software to cut the video while also adding in pictures and copyright free music.
Equipment list: Video editing software (I used Sony Vegas)
Notes and Observations: I began by downloading the video and importing it into my video editing software. Once the video was in I began “cutting” the video segments so that only the parts I wanted to keep were present. I then found a Creative Commons image and added it to the video, I tried to add effects to the image to make it “fit in” with the video as much as possible. Lastly, I obtained copyright free music to add to my video and then created an ending clip, rendered, and then uploaded the video to Youtube.

Questions: Which of these licenses could you use in your class video project? Why? Which license would not be acceptable to use in your video project? Why not? Which licenses allow you to use the work as long as you share your work with others through Creative Commons as well?
Answer: In a class video project students would use Attribution license because it allows others to “distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon your work” as long as credit is given to the original creation.
Answer: The Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license would not be acceptable to use in your video project because it states that the creation cannot be changed in any way or use it commercially.
Answer: Attribution-ShareAlike license allows you to use the work as long as the person credits the original creator and licenses their new creations under the identical terms.
Conclusions: This lab helped me understand how well I can edit videos for future projects or assignments. It has been awhile since I’ve used editing software to edit a video for an assignment so this lab was good with helping me remember all the things I can do with video editing software.
